Hitex Robot Automation Autotuft Hand Tuft Machine

1. Introduction to Hitex Robot Handtuft

We have 15 years of experience in production with robot handtufting and 22 years of normal handtufting experience. This means that we are able to provide you with outstanding knowledge about the technique of automation in the production of cut and loop pile tufted carpets, rugs, wall hangings, bath mats and toilet seat covers. A wide range of yarns can be used including wool, wool blends, cotton and acrylic.

Our robot system for handtufted carpets (sometimes known referred to as autotuft or autotufting) is based on a frame structure in extruded aluminum. This is a very flexible system that allows you to build the robot in many different sizes, it also gives you many opportunities for changes in the future. The maximum tufting area is 4000x6000 mm. The standard system includes four tufting looms/frames measuring 4500x6500 mm, which are mounted on wheels to allow them to be moved in and out of operation. While tufting is performed in one frame, another one is prepared with new fabric, yet another one is for finishing and latexing. Preparing and finishing is done in an area that is next to the robot.

Four AC Servo motors power the movements and the tuft unit to provide the automation, which gives a very accurate and reliable running. It gives you control over every single stitch. There are all kinds of possibilities for changing speed and stitch length when the robot is running. To avoid faults and errors in the tufting, the robot is equipped with two different alarms, checking the yarns and the tufting. This minimizes both unnecessary stops and repairs. The robot can operate for several hours without stops, depending on pattern and size of the carpet. Estimated production capacity 1800 stitches/minute.

The tufting unit is able to perform both cut pile and loop pile, cut pile from

12-75 mm and loop pile from 8-45 mm.

The design system we use for preparation of USB pen drives (or network connections) for the robot is Hitex Tuft Cad. All the design work as well as making all the tuft lines/vectorisation is done in this unit. In Hitex Tuft Cad you decide what distance you want to have between the tuft lines. Tuft lines can be performed in any direction or angle, you want to have. There are different ways of doing the designs, the drawing can be done directly in the Hitex Tuft Cad, a scanner can be used, or it can be imported from other design systems.

The requirements for running this system is an area of 10000 mm length, 3000 mm width and 5000 mm height, this is for the maximum size robot. You also need an area for preparing and finishing of the frames, and a hand tufting gun for small repairs.

The electric supply needed is 400 volts (3x230 volts), 16 ampere. Compressed air, minimum 8 bars, 300 litres/min, good air supply gives higher speed in production.

You need to have staff that is able to handle a computer design system. It is an advantage if you have experience in traditional hand tufting technique.
